Odiham's Train Trip

As part of GWR's Try a Train programme, Odiham Class travelled on a train to Reading and back with GWR's Senior Accessibility Mentor, Dan. Dan told us all about both Newbury and Reading train station, including where we can go and who we can ask for help. He pointed out lots of features at the station including the help point, which Dan then demonstrated to us by finding out details about his tarin home. At Newbury train station, we spoke to the people in the ticket office and found out how much our journey would cost. We found out that it would be cheaper if we bought a group ticket. Everyone enjoyed the experience of both being on the train and exploring Reading train station. Learning about how train travel works, and using the train in a supported way, is vital in building confidence when travelling. The rest of the Lancaster Team (Twizel, Calshot and Wallingford) will be accessing the Try a Train programme later in the summer term.
