Every year Newbury and District Agricultural Society run a Potato Challenge, where local schools have the opportunity to grow their own potatoes and the school with the biggest yield wins a prize.
This week, Tiverton class went along to Newbury Showground and they were able to taste some potato cakes, chocolate cake made from potatoes and do a blind crisp potato tasting challenge.
Then we planted our seed potatoes, which we have brought back to school to nurture until June when we will return to the Show Ground for the harvest and weigh in. Fingers crossed for a good harvest. Watch this space for further developments.
