At The Castle School we support children and young people with a range of complex learning needs from the ages of 3 to 19, offering a range of provision for different ages, stages and needs. We are a very welcoming and open school with a caring and highly-specialised staff team who are committed to supporting the education of all our pupils and make our school a very special place. We are keen to hear from primary teachers from either mainstream who are looking for a move into the field of special education, as well as those who currently work in special schools. Support Assistants

Do you want to make a difference to children’s lives? We are looking for enthusiastic, caring and flexible people with a positive and proactive approach to grow our team. You will be working with students 1 to 1 and in small groups to enable their access to learning. You will work in both our indoor and outdoor classrooms to support the pupils’ learning as directed by the class teacher. You will also be required to assist with the pupil’s personal needs. The ability to communicate effectively with pupils, parents and staff is essential.

Lunchtime Assistants

Are you a caring and patient person who loves to work with children? Are you seeking a part-time opportunity that keeps your mornings and afternoons free? As a lunchtime assistant, you will be responsible for the setting up of the dining hall with tables and chairs ready for the pupils. You will assist with delivering and serving dinners to pupils and staff. Some of our pupils require specific support with their feeding so you may be allocated to a class to help with this. Once dinner is finished the hall needs tidying and clearing ready for the afternoon and then lunchtime assistants support the students in the playground until the end of break. You will also be supporting the lunch breaks of the classroom staff during your shift.

Jobs at our Castle @ Theale ASD/SEMH site

The Castle @ Theale is a brand-new provision for students aged 11-19 with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) and ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) needs, run by The Castle School. We will have a new class of students in September and are looking to grow our team to support them. Please look at the jobs below:

 

Higher Level Teaching Assistant

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers to create exceptional learning environments and support the delivery of an exciting curriculum in a truly therapeutic setting. You will have experience of working with SEMH/ASD children and a passion for person centred learning and therapeutic approaches.

You will support the needs of pupils as individuals or in small groups throughout the day. You will be required to help implement educational plans and provide assistance with programmes devised by other professionals and therapists.

You will have excellent people skills and a warm and caring personality. The ability to communicate effectively with pupils, parents and other staff is important. Opportunities for training are available and all staff are encouraged to take up these opportunities.
